Does central A/C really save that much more energy than window units? If so, about how much in energy costs per year for a normal size house?

  1. How funny. For some reason (being our Central A/C uses $400. US A MONTH in Texas, sometime up to $600) I would definately think that the window unit uses less. That is in the summer months.

In the winter it runs us about $200.

And this is a newer home, about 7 years old! Seems like the older homes use less energy than that!! Argh!!

This is definately a good and interesting question!

(hope you don't live in Texas, LOL)
