    Energy use is measured in watts.  Watts are volts multiplied by amps.

    So you either need to know the wattage of the two appliances, or the number of amps that they draw.  This information should be on a metal plate somewhere on the appliances.

    Theoretically, the fan should use less energy.  But a really big, inefficient fan might actually use more energy than a small, efficient air conditioner.
