At most it works out about a £1's worth extra per day for each household with the lights, or so it was said on tv last night.  Not sure that I believe it.

Xmas lights ? all i no is that Xmas times all mines gone , but the kids seem to have more ha ha  i  wonder why and father xmas has the most he has too all the children he has to deliver to poor him xx

About 1/100,000th of the energy wasted due to single glazed rented (usually) properties - and trying to keep them reasonably warm, mainly because tight fisted landlords are refusing to comply with "Thermal Comfort Criteria - 2004"  a government ruling to ensure that tenants of rented accommodation can (supposedly) maintain warmth during cold weather months without excessive energy usage/wastage if properties are correctly insulated.

Bah humbug!  And don't forget all the Christmas trees that get cut down.

Mind you, on a global scale less energy is used over Christmas because of lower commercial and industrial use.  And the amounts of greenhouse gases are lower because people are less active and breathe less.  (People breathing generates far more carbon gases than burning fossil fuels) But don't let that stop anyone complaining.
