  1. Commission approved MMA shorts and kickboxing trunks are the only uniforms allowed. Shirts, gis and shoes, and the problems they present for grabbing are not allowed.

    Those are the ufc rules

  2. All competitors must fight in approved shorts, without shoes. Shirts, gis or long pants (including gi pants) are not allowed. Fighters must use approved light gloves, that include at least 1" of padding around the knuckles, (110 to 170 g / 4 to 6 ounces) that allow fingers to grab. These gloves enable fighters to punch with less risk of an injured or broken hand, while retaining the ability to grab and grapple.

Originally the attire for UFC was very open if controlled at all. Many fighters still chose to wear tight-fitting shorts or boxing-type trunks, while others wore long pants or tight wrestling suits. Multi-time tournament champion Royce Gracie wore a jiujitsu gi in all his early appearances in UFC.

  3. well preety much all promotions in MMA are the same short with no pockets metal snaps or zippers

Now some promotions like king of the cage for example allow you to wear shirt or rash guards and some mostly in japan allow you to wear the GI and a few do allow wrestlign shoes never heard of wearing socks now sure why you woudl want to make it harder to get traction it may have been ankle braces which are allowed as well as like knee braces
