  1. Usually you'll need to buy a full-fare unrestricted ticket to make it fully refundable, which can be significantly more depending on the cost of your ticket. You'll need to call your airline or check the airline's website, many airlines have unrestricted fare options on their websites.


  2. For any flight, operated by almost any airlines (except "discount airlines") seats are sold in about a dozen different fare "classes" for each flight.

    Only the very most expensive are fully refundable.

    These are usually priced significantly higher...two to three times as much.  This amount varies with each flight and date of departure. There is no standard formula or amount of difference in price.

    However, most "non refundable"  tickets allow the fare to be applied as a credit toward future flights on that airline- less a fee (usually $100).

  3. It all depends on which airline and how far it is, but mainly its $50-200, its not that bad.
