A sports collectors Web site and a memorabilia convention are offering $25,000 for a single autograph to Steve Bartman -- the infamous Cubs fan known for knocking a foul ball away from Moises Alou during game 6 of the Cubs' National League Championship Series game against the Florida Marlins.

According to the Web site Nsccshow.com, "All he has to do is show up on Thursday July 31, 2008 at 1:00 PM, prove that he is the Steve Bartman pictured in this photo, sign the photo and the $25,000 is his."

well guess what he was a no-show,I mean cmon bad enough you cost the cubs a shot at a title not to mention the millions of dollars the city of chicago lost by not hosting the series, and mad 3 and a half ppl hate his guts (all the cubs fans) but then just say no thanks to 25k he now has my vote for bummy of the year

  1. Give the man a break he only did what any other cubs would do and lets face it its not as if most of the people who go to wriggly care about baseball. Its all about the so called Wrigley experience

  2. No, sorry, I don't believe a foul ball made the Cubs lose, it was the pitching staff who fell apart when the Marlins rallied. Forget about it, it's past history.

  3. well...as a non-biased fan when it comes to the cubs, the film footage i've seen clearly shows a couple of things...first, the ball was only marginally catchable by alou, who would have had to jump very high and reach way into the stands to make the play, and second, that bartman only reacted as any fan might to a ball landing close to him in the stands...clearly, alou has never been considered an outfielder that would be more than marginally capable of making that play, and bartmen only reached above himself for the ball...he didn't knock it away from alou, nor did he really prevent alou from making the play...speculation that alou would have surely made the catch is, in my opinion, just that...and maybe more wishful thinking than anything else

  4. Alou admitted that he couldn't have caught the ball, & was trying to buy an interference call. He didn't cause the cubs to lose, maybe the shortstop that missed a routine ground ball caused them to lose it all!!!!!!!!

  5. I agree with Paul F, and besides, he isn't the one who gave up 8 runs. The real person to blame is Alex Gonzalez.

As far as the memorabilia show goes, I probably would've shown up to get the 25 K, so I don't know why he didn't, if that story is true.

  6. I Mean First Of All It Was A Foul Ball, So That Didn't Lose You The Game, Your Pitching Did, So You Can't Blame One Guy Who Knocked Away One Foul Ball Just Because You Lost.
