How much faster/more efficient is a longboard than a skateboard for travelling short distances?

I skate but i am considering a longboard so i can get to class faster.

How much faster/less energy consuming is your average longboard? Assuming the distance, type of pavement, etc is all equal.

Its acctually quite amazing the difference when you try out a longboard for the first time after bieng on a skateboard you can turn much easier its much faster and you dont need to push / pump as much i would recomend it if your like skateboarding but if its just to get to class it wouldnt be too good for your wallet.

longboardsare much faster and made for going downhills and distances. on the other hand skateboards are more for tricks. longboards are much easier to turn on and in my opinion are much easier to ride. longboards are not very energey consuming. if ur going on a flat surface or slightly downhill u wont have to pump much. another thing is longboard wheels are much bigger and they wont wear out as eaisily as skateboard wheels.
