How much faster would I run with spike?

A couple of days ago, I ran a 200m. I got 26.28 seconds(yes I know it is not that good, but I only started running a couple of weeks ago).

I just wore normal running shoes*. If I wore spikes, how much faster would I be?

*these shoes to be precise:

  1. spikes will lower your time but dont rely on just that. you can probably hit low 25 or high 24 with spikes on. usually its not the shoe that makes a runner fast, its the person. so if you work on your running form (controlled breathing and proper arms/knee lifts, and turns) you'll run faster.

  2. well it depends on how big the spikes are. if you get big spikes, that'll add weight on which equals resistance, and you're toes won't be near the front which means that will add more resistance too. so especially for sprinters like you, you need snug spikes to get less weight and more speed. You mite have to buy new ones the next year, but atleast you know that you did good and that you're growing and not shrinking.

  3. It all depends.

If you are wearing a good solid running spike on an all-weather track then you should improve by about .30 seconds at the most.

I would estimate your time to be about 26.09-26.15 if you ran the exact same race, only with spikes, as you've done before.

(Oh and 26+ seconds isn't that bad! What are you talking about? Especially if you just started running!)

    Take Care!

    Hope it helps!
