How much flush free niacin can i take in one day if they are 500mg?

I am taking 2000 mg a day as a cholesterol treatment under doctors care- Lipitor had disagreeable side affect. this was done by starting 500mg and increasing another 500mg weekly - so if you were to try the 2000mg dose with no preliminary lead up you might get a bit sick and flushed anyway.

Taking Niacin with a little food and an aspirin at night can minimize the flush.  500 mg is the typical dose, and there's not really any added benefit (just more chance for flushing) to taking more than that.
