How much food am I supposed to give my about 16lb. dog?

do not feed according to the weight the dog is, feed according to the weight the dog should be

you didnt say what country you are in so its hard to name a brand.

but the link will help prepare you to become a better dog owner for picking food.. (the dog food analysis link is too complicated)

remember NONE of the foods in grocery store or Wal Mart sells are any good.. some vets sell (Science Diet) are c**p too.

feed the dog 2 times a day - follow the guidelines on the side of the bag for feeding.

in Canada I like NUTRAM or ACANA (small breed formula)

What kind of dog is it? How old is he?

It will depend on the food as to how much you give him. I feed Canidae All Life Stages and my 9.5 pound Yorkie mix gets about 1/2 cup twice a day.

Canidae is a good food. It is made with human grade ingredients. I've read good reviews about Wellness, Innova, Blue Buffalo, Eagle Pack, etc. The packages should have the reccommended serving size on the back. Do some reasearch and find the best quality food you can afford.

I think 2 times a day is plenty. My dogs get fed at the same time every morning and night.

I've always fed my dogs twice a day - Morning and Evening.

I feed Purina dog chow I know many on here say it's no good but I have had dogs live to be 20 yeas old. read teh package of food you feed and feed accordingly. I only feed once a day sometimes wit the smaller breeds Iw ould suggest 2 x a day once in the morning and once between 4-5 and htat gives time to relieve before bed.

I feed my dogs, both around 16lbs, approximately 3 feedings of dry food a day. Approximately 1/4 to 1/2 cup each feeding.

a 16 pound dog?  I would guess about .4oz per pound?

Sorry honey, my dogs are 125+ each.  I think their tails weigh about 16 pounds.
