  1. 892 pounds of wheat per hectare

  2. No way of knowing without knowing the yield.

  3. 35 to 100 bushel per acre or for hectare 86.5 to 247 bushels.  There are different types of wheat.  Not only does bread come from wheat but there are by-products from processed wheat that have many different uses.

  4. Of course you know that there is a lot of variations in yields of wheat, but an average yield of 5.4 tons/hectare would about right.  Figuring about .5 kg of wheat to make a loaf of bread, that is about 10,800 loaves of bread per ha of wheat. That is a lot of food.

  5. First of all, it is impossible to give one exact number for wheat yield on a hectare of land.  There are so many factors that come into play -- climate, variety, soil type, rainfall, etc. -- that it is impossible to know for sure.

    In order to give farmers a bit better 'guesstimate', Texas A&M came up with this set of equations for determining yield from an acre of wheat.  These equations can be used when the field is starting to mature:

    (No. of heads per sq. ft. x 43560 x [No. of seed per head / No. of seeds

    per lb.] ) / 60

    or

    No. of heads per sq. ft. x (No. of seed per head / No. of seeds per lb.)

    x 726

    So, to put this into some examples:

    Assume 15 seeds per head and seed size of 16,000 seeds per lb.

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft.x [ (15 / 16,000) x 726]

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x 0.68

    Assume 20 seeds per head and 16,000 seeds per lb.

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x [(20 / 16,000) x 726]

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x 0.91

    Assume 40 seeds per head and 16,000 seeds per lb.

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x [(40 / 16,000) x 726]

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x 1.82

    Assume 20 seed/head and 18,000 seed/lb.

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x [ (20 / 18,000) x 726]

    Yield = ? heads per sq. ft. x 0.81

    (For conversetion, 1 acre = 0.404685642 hectares)

    For the sake of this example, let's use a typical wheat field in the Great Plains region of the U.S., where it is possible to easily harvest 6.8 tons per hectares.

    According to a recent study by the USDA, the average person eats about 150 of wheat a year.
