  1. the cheapest ive ever seen one is 500.

  2. Go on craigslist they have tons for adoption but they will be a cat most likely. Beggars can't be choosers.

I thought the same thing about shelter cats but i just got a kitten from there and yeah at first it was scared, like anyone would be. but within about 4 days she was more and more lovable now she is the best and most behaved pet i have ever had. If you get one from there just dont have any hiding spots for it when you bring it home, and start it off in one room and introduce it to the other people in your family and other parts of your house gradually. It worked for me. =]

  3. You can always visit a bengal rescue shelter to adopt one.

The cost really depends on each organization. Good Luck!

    Remember :-

    Don't Buy; Rescue!

  4. Bengal kittens that come from breeders usually start at $450 for a pet quality kitten, and can cost as much as $3,000 for a breeding or show quality kitten.

However, you can find Bengal cats on www.petfinder.com, and also thru the Bengal Rescue Network. If you're from the west coast, there is a very active Bengal Rescue program going on that you should look into.

I'm concerned about your lack of willingness to spend money on a Bengal kitten, tho. Bengals are NOT like regular house cats. Bengals, being a hybrid, have different medical, nutritional, and physical needs than an average domestic cat.

Bengals are prone to IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) which means they will need a specialized (read: expensive!) diet. If your kitten shows IBS symptoms, it will need at very least one - if not multiple - trips to the vet to make sure your cat is not seriously ill. Many breeders will request in a contract (which you must sign in order to bring home the kitten), that your kitten see the vet within a few days of bringing it home to verify its health.

You'll also need a vet who is experienced in handling exotic cats. If for some reason your kitten needs surgery in the future, your vet should know that anesthetics that work for typical house cats can kill your Bengal.

In addition to a good-quality cat food and suppliments, you'll kitty liter, and toys. (It is extremely rare that a breeder will allow their kittens to go to owners who plan on letting their cats outside without a harness. The contract may specifically require your cat be an indoor only cat.)

Are you ready to handle these costs?

Many people become enamored by the look of the Bengal, but do not do their research before buying this breed, and therefore do not realize what they're getting into... If you do buy a Bengal, besure to to a LOT of research FIRST. Then, if a Bengal still seems right for you, be sure to ask a lot of questions of the breeder. Remember that Bengals are very active, and left unattended can become destructive. Bengals will not lay around your house all day and sleep. They need constant attention, and they usually aren't ones to cuddle. Bengals hate being picked up, and may never be a lapcat. If you're looking for a cuddly cat, or if you're away from home often, a Bengal is NOT for you.

Just because a Bengal comes from a breeder does NOT mean it's less likely to spray, be mean, be afraid, scratch furnature, climb curtains, jump on tables and counters, etc...

My female Bengal cost the breeder $2,500 and she loves to scratch objects, jump on counters, and climb on whatever she can. It's the nature of the hybrid cat, and if you don't want to deal with hybrid cat behaviors, don't buy a Bengal. Bengals are also skittish by nature. They may not get along with other pets, or with children. It all depends on the individual cat's personality, and how they're raised.

  5. there are plenty fo beautiful kittens in the shelter
