  1. hi my daughter was 10, 6 born and has always been a bit of a guts, when she was 3 months she was drinking 180 mils every 3 hrs, she's been sleeping through the night since she was a few weeks old and has gained a normal amount of weight. my mother in law tried telling me she needed to be woken during the night for a feed but there was no way i was ruining her routine. i asked our doc and he said 180 mils every 3 hrs is fine but try not to go any closer together than that. you'll get a hundred different answers on here, ( being an q and a forum, lol) all well meaning but for something as important as feeding id definitely ask your dr. good luck, i hope it works out for you

  2. Multiply your baby's weight by 2.5 - 2.7 ounces of formula

2.5 - 2.7 ounces (oz) per pound (lb) of body weight. So if your baby weighs 6lb, he should consume about 15 or 16oz of formula in a 24-hour period. If he weighs 10lb, he should have roughly 25 - 27oz in a 24-hour period.

Don't expect a newborn (or any baby, for that matter) to follow a schedule or mathematical formula.

Appetites vary from baby to baby, and most babies change from day to day and month to month. Your baby will feed as often as he needs to, as long as you learn to detect his cues and respond to them appropriately. Make sure you don't automatically give a bottle every time your baby cries - in time you'll learn to read his actions and work out whether he's hungry or just needs attention.

    Hope this helps...??

  3. Don't worry about it.  I had a girl in December and she weighed 10 pounds and she is an eater.  I worried about her taking so much formula at first then I told my dr. I was tracking her formula intake and he said  "stop counting, she is healthy and there is no need to worry about what she is eating".  My son was the same way and once he became active he slowed down on the weight gain and is just fine now.  As for how much he should take and when there is no set amounts and times.  My daughter had days where she would take 2 to 4 oz every 2 to 4 hours and then her last bottle for the day would be 6 or 8 oz.  and she was taking about 36 to 38 oz a day also.  Just go with the flow, everything will be just fine.  Good luck

  4. I had massive problems with getting my 3 month old son to sleep.  He would just lie awake and cry for hours, then when he finally went to sleep he would wake every hour or two hours through the night and cry again!  Talk about pulling our hair out .... we were absolutely desperate for sleep!

It was a baby sleep audio program recommended by a friend that finally saved us. We followed the advice and began by creating a baby sleep routine which included bathtime, dimming of the lights, putting Paul into his crib, final nappy change and then lullabies. We also made recommended changes to his naps during the day and used some of the other recommended techniques. Within two weeks he was sleeping through the night most nights with just the odd night where he would just wake once!

Definitely start by creating a good baby sleep routine though and you could find that solves most of your baby sleep problems.

    Good luck!
