The amount of 22 tons, has been estimated, as an average. Has the government calculated how the exhaust gasses produced compare to the carbon footprint of gass guzzler 4 by 4s?

  1. the average jet engine swallows a gallon or so  of fuel every 5 seconds at about 90 percent throttle (take off) so take this and multply it by the average runway roll out even the 747 is airborne in under 60 seconds so do the math per 1 engine then deside on what aircraft you r specifically refering too then mutlply that number by how many engines the plane has there is you're best estimate

  2. The aircraft burns a lot of fuel when taking off since it takes quite a lot of energy to get a 400 ton plane moving.  But once it is up in the thin air and cruising at 500MPH, it is burning less fuel per-person than an economy car (and going a lot faster).

If 400 people took 100 SUVs on a 2000 mile trip, they would burn far more fuel than the one jumbo jet carrying 400 people.

  3. The hypocrites, the government probable use jumbo jets m

    ore than I use a 4x4.

They are so consumed with making themselves rich, they can't see straight.

  4. 350litres around there

  5. To compare it to 4x4's would be pretty useless since they are 2 very different methods of transportation. Besides it should be calculated per person and since on a 747 there's hundreds of people, the carbon footprint is less per person than in a 4x4.

  6. Hi, A few years ago i asked the pilot of the plane we were travelling on to OZ, at that time we were allowed in the cockpit, He said, 7tons on take off & 2 tone thereafter that was fully loaded with app 500 tons total weight.

    T.W.R.

  7. enough to get a full set of models from the shell petrol station.

  8. 4,500-6,000 pounds of fuel per hour per engine.

but towards the end of the flight about 2,000-4,000 pounds of fuel per hour per engine (also the abovestated changes depending on the type and year of the plane's engine)
