My wife and I recently bought a new home. It's a single level ranch and we are in the southern tier of New York in the Binghamton area. The furnace uses fuel oil. I don't know how much fuel oil this house burns during the heating season and I need to know to decide whether to stay with what I have or convert to another energy source.

Can anyone answer this?

  1. If you know the name of the fuel company the prev. owners used, give them a call... They can prob. give you a "round-about" of what the prev owners bill was

  2. My house in Massachusetts is about the same size, and we go through about 325 gallons per heating season.  However, we keep it around 62 degrees, and our house is pretty well sealed up.
