I don't have any cloves, but I have a ton of powder! I always end up using too much or too little.

  1. 1 tsp fresh = 1 clove garlic

But since dry herbs/spices are 3x stronger than fresh, you will only need 1 tsp of dry powder to replace 3 cloves, or 3 tsp. of fresh.

  2. rule of thumb

    6 cloves = 1 teaspoon

thus, 3 cloves would be 1/2 teaspoon

  3. Have you checked the label? sometimes they list equivalencies.

  4. 1/2 tablespoon

  5. i don't measure garlic.. I add it till it taste good... i don't measure.. However, I have been cooking since I was 12, so i don't have a need to measure anymore.  you can always add but you can not take away.

start with 1/2 teaspoon per clove.  but add it 1/2 teaspoon at a time.. Powder seems to be stronger sometimes than the actual cloves.  taste after each addition.  If you have added 1 1/2 teaspoon and it still does not taste right, add a little more.. stir taste and continue doing so till it is correct.
