My friend will be renting a Uhaul truck and towing a compact car. He has a large bedroom's worth of stuff. Anyone know about how much I'll need just for gas?

  1. a LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

    A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    A LOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  2. 1000 bucks

  3. Yikes.  You'll probably get less than 10 miles per gallon with that load.

    1200 miles.  10 miles per gallon, 120 gallons.  Average $4.50/gallon, you're looking at $550-600.

  4. goto "google maps" and type in the destination from and to.  then calculate the mileage.  After you get the mileage, add another 25 miles for misc places you'll be going, and for the minute discrepencies in calculation.  Then you devide that by 10 (typical mpg for uhaul trucks and other large trucks) and multiply that by $$$/gallon for gas... and there you'll have your total one way gas charge.

  5. Trust me:  You are NOT going to get 10 mpg in a U-haul loaded pulling a car.  You had better do your figuring at 5 mpg..and take extra money.  I had that experience of moving under those conditions, and we were averaging about 5 miles to the gallon.

  6. 4 tanks fulls.

  7. Ahh, its a lot, probably like, 400 at least... i reccomend bring like 800, its gonna be pricey.

  8. See, here's one of those situations where you look back and say:

"Gee, I should paid more attention in math class in FIFTH GRADE"

  9. Enough to drive for a solid 3 days.

  10. A lot! Hope you have enough money!

  11. $600 for sure and all depends how u drive ur car :) Good luck

  12. He is going to be driving a BIG truck over some BIG hills.. better figure 5 Miles per gallon... divide that into the number of miles he plans to drive and multiply by $5 per gallon which would be about in the middle between a DIESEL truck and a GAS truck and, since you DIDN'T SAY WHICH then I can't give you any more of an answer.

  13. well, there is a little over one thousand miles between the two cities and i'm guessing you will get about twelve miles to the gallon... so about 350 dollars worth of gas.

Welcome to san diego! it's awesome down here!!

you can use www.gasbuddy.com to find the cheapest gas in your area.

  14. Distance 1064

14/17 foot box van ten miles per gallon

towing a trailer with the car would reduce that by about 3 miles per gallon

    1064/7=152 gallons@4 per gallon $608 minimum

  15. about 150-200 gallons.

  16. a freakin ton good luck it will cost you more than uhaul for sure

  17. This move will cost you more than a lot of gas money... SoCal just might cost you your soul!  Stay in Seattle!

Just kidding.  You'll like San Diego.  The other answers already got the gas part right, so I won't bother echoing them.

  18. I think about 500 to 600 dollars.  That uhaul takes alot of gas and with the gas prices on top of that its going to be expensive.  I would see how much does the bedd and stuff cost  to buy new and sell it all before you go and see if you come out better.  the cost of the uhaul rental it self is high too.

  19. bike man

  20. I did the trip in 16 hours and never filled up the whole way, of course I had my duel fuel dakota that goes over 1000 miles per fill up! woooohoo, have fun! and back then gas was about 1.75 a gallon, oh man those where the days!!!!

and do NOT speed threw Oregon, well not that you can with   that load, good luck!

  21. Probably about $1200 worth of gas

  22. Seattle to San Diego is about 1,258 miles.  You will be carrying a load of furniture plus towing a car so I am estimating you will get only about 10 miles per gallon.  This means you will need 126 gallons of gas for the trip times the price per gallon of gas on your trip.  If the average price per gallon is $4.25 per gallon, for example, then gas will cost you $535.00 for the trip.  This is just a rough calculation on my part since I don't know what the price of gas is in your area but it should give you a fairly close ballpark figure.
