What would be your estimate?

The American average is about 420 gallons / year.

  1. A few hundred gallons -- probably not much different from the average you cited.  I don't have records to support an accurate figure.

  2. 10 tons without farting

  3. 16 000 / 18 = 888  gallons.  (that a swag.)

    420 sounds low to me.

maybe it includes folks who don't drive.

kind of like, "How many cigarettes does the average American smoke?"

    maybe 3-4

however, when you only include smokers, 20 is a better average.

  4. I use about 550 litres per year,

I am careful never to convert litres to gallons because the gallon is an ambiguous measurement, being different in the USA from Canada.

We do not use gallons in Canada except when a car sales person is attempting to misrepresent the economy of the vehicle they sell, and converts litres into IMPERIAL GALLONS.

  5. I use my bike (because I don't drive).<because I don't have a license (because I'm not old enough).

  6. alot... LOL two cars+alot of driving=alot of gasoline. DUH!!!

  7. About 1800 gallons
