I have heard the ridiculous argument that it takes more gasoline to refine alcohol than is produced. If that were true, doesn't it tke several gallons of gas to produce one gallon? Corn grows and Oil gets pumped out of the ground. What's the deal ?

  1. That's a confusing question.  There are many ways to make alcohol.  Think of the kind people drink.  It comes from things like corn, wheat, rye, even dandelions.  And oil doesn't just come out of the ground.  There's fish oil, whale oil, corn oil and so on.  So the cost can be changed by the way you produce it.
