  1. Well alot of the time it depends on breed, weight, age, and some other stuff. Im srry i dont know much, i just started working with cattle more since i met my bf. So if you have any other questions i would be happy to try and answer them.

  2. A steer should have up to its 2,5% of live weight.

    A cow, less than that.

Exceeding those percentages would cause metabolic problems and, eventually, death.

  3. You really asked an open end question.  If you mean beef cattle many could go their whole life without any grain at all.  They do well grazing and with hay in winter months where grazing is not enough to meet their needs.  Beef steers fattening in a feed lot may eat up to 10 or 15 lbs of grain per day depending on the kind of roughage they receive in addition to grain.  Dairy cows being milked are given a good bit of grain in addition to grazing and hay depending on the amount of milk they produce.  There is an increased interest on grass fed beef where steers are fattened on pasture and hay without being fed any grain.  It produces a leaner lower fat meat that some consumers like.  It is also not as good tasting as good grain beef, but some are willing to sacrifice taste for less fat.

  4. Grain fed is expensive when considering grass fed.

  5. WELL WHEN THERE BORN THEY DON'T EAT AS MUCH AS LATTER ON AS A BUCKET CALF THEY WILL DRINK A WHOLE BOTTLE THEN AS THEY GET OLDER THEY NEED MORE AND MORE IT DEPENDS A LOT ON DIFFERENT THINGS BUT THEY WILL EAT UP TO 25 OR 30 POUNDS OF ROUGHAGES PER DAY

  6. A cow don't only eat grain, it would burst! They eat green,  although not hay, they lay on hay.

  7. don't know but i beleive that everyone and thing should have a balanced diet, then there is less chance of getting overweight.

  8. It depends on the age, s*x, weight, and use of the animal.  Dairy cattle need fed about 16% protein in their grain, and roughage (hay, grass, silage) as well to make sure that they are giving maximum amounts of milk.  Most people who have beef cattle rarely give them grain.  It is not necessary...they can live off of forage alone.

  9. It depends on the weight of the cow
