How do you know how much grave should be used for ones aquarium? I have a 1.5 and a 2.5 gallon. How do I measure what much gravel to use?

  1. You mean gravel? I usually have about 2 to 3 inches of gravel in my tank. But if you go bigger try to put in about 4 to 5 inches.

  2. You can use none if you want.

The bonus is nothing gets trapped in the gravel that can pollute such a small tank easily. It's just far easier to clean, just whoosh the water and suck it out.

But if you want gravel, dark gravel is always better and in that tank a little as half an inch to what ever you want.

Larger gravel can be far easier to work with aswell.

    good luck!!!

  3. For that small of tanks I would use just enough to cover the bottom to 1/2". I have two 29 gallon tanks running now and only use 1-3 inches of gravel.

  4. Gravel is not needed in an aquarium, it is for aesthetics. You put in how much it takes to hold down the plants you want, or until it looks good to you. Just remember, the more gravel you put in, the more food and p**p it will hold. If you want the same gravel in each tank, a 5 pound bag will be enough.
