I have a long gravel driveway that has weeds growing though. I just want to make it look better and stop the weeds. Would one inch be enough?

  1. try 2 inches. check with your local government on what they need.

put black weed-proof plastic down, then fine stone or sand- not to rip the plastic- then your big stuff. compact the layer before putting the next one on.

  2. Get a low grade gravel mix that contains caliche(clay like material) after driving on it and watering it or raining the caliche turns hard as rock and compacts everything down. I think they also call it base material.

Spray all your weeds with round up or full strength vinegar to kill them first. cut off or pull the tall ones and then have them deliver the base material. If you give them the measurements of your driveway and the thickness you want(1" would be fine)they will let you know how much you need.
