  1. In general, the volume of a cone is given by the equation:

    V=(1/3)*pi*r^2*h, where Vis volume, r is radius, and h is height

    Substitute in what is given:

    27=(1/3)*pi*r^2*6

    Now give in terms of r^2:

    r^2=27/((1/3)*pi*6)

    r^2=486*pi

    r=sqrt(486*pi)=39.0745

    Now area of a circle, i.e. the base of the cone, is given as A=pi*r^2

    A=pi*(486*pi)

    A=486*pi^2 square feet!

    A=4796.63... square feet

    Good luck.
