It's usually quite expensive (much more so than buying the preventative in the first place!).  How expensive will depend on the size of your dog and how severe the infection is.  While some dogs have a short-term treatment, some with more severe infections will need a very lengthy course of treatment.  The best bet is to ask your vet for a quote for your specific dog.  I believe you are generally looking at several hundred dollars and upwards.

It's been a while since I have had to go through this but it cost @$400 then and must be done by a vet.
