I was born on the Army base in Bad Kreuznach, Rheinland-Falsz, in 1963. I am planning a trip in the next two years to revisit the places my mother listed in my babybook that we lived and visited. I was just wondering how much has changed since that time.

  1. A lot has change since then.  The Big Ben hotel across from train station is now a McDonalds!  The town is brighter with a nice shopping/dining district.  The bridgehouses are still there and so is Rose Barracks, but the hospital you were born in was closed back in the Seventies.  I was stationed there and have returned on vacations from time to time.  I still love that town and a part of me is home there.  Oh, when you see cameras with Schnieder Kreuznach Optik on the lense remember that the plant is right there.

My landlord Herr Kadish worked there back then.

  2. I am really not that familiar with Bad Kreuznach (I'm from Berlin), but I found a pretty good website, mostly historical: http://www.aa-munich.org/history.htm

You could always try calling a couple of travel agencies who may be more familiar with the city and its make-up. This site is in German, but there are some beautiful pictures on it: http://www.kreis-badkreuznach.de/cgi-bin...

Have fun discovering your roots and travel safely! :)
