  1. You do not use household bleach....go toa pool place and buy the proper chemicals...dangerous otherwise...for your children.


  2. YES you can use bleach as your chlorine source. It is perfectly safe. Just make sure it is regular unscented 6% clorox or an off brand that is at least 6%. The active ingredient is sodium hypochlorite- the same as chlorinating liquid (which is simply 12%). 3oz. of 6% bleach will raise your 456 gallons to 3ppm which is a normal level. I would suggest getting a test kit to make sure it stays at 3ppm.

  3. Actually, you CAN use regular Bleach and it will save you TONS of money. You just need to know how to do it effectively. Maintaining a pool is a big job, but it's great when you can save money doing it. Here is a link I received from another yahoo.answers user.
