  1. 6.7 HP would be an absolute minimum.  Because of system losses (bearing friction, motor inefficiences such as 'iron' loss and IR loss) you should add about 15% to that 6.7 and make it 7.7.  You *might* get by on a 7.5 HP motor, but 8 would be better.

  2. 1 hp = 745 W so you'd need, at minimum, a 6.7-hp motor.

  3. You will need a 10 HP engine to run your 5 kw generator that is engine efficiency included.

    Hp=kw/75

         =5/0.75

         =6.7 this is only output Hp

    since motor HP rating are in BHp,m your BHP could be 10 or lesser if the efficiency is better than 75%.
