How much (if anything) is this sewing machine worth?

My mum is clearing out her loft and has found her old Singer 329K. It has a foot pedal built in, it's a solid metal, silver grey machine, made in the 1960's. The wooden cabinet has a lid that lifts off to reveal the machine which lifts up from the inside. The manual is there. The cabinet has a few marks and stains but still solid.

Is it worth anything?

  1. £5

  2. Someone tried to sell one on eBay this week for £14.99 but it went unsold: http://i8.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/fd/f8/0e1...

It's really quite recent for a sewing machine. You might do some research, eg here: http://oldsewingmachines.acandanex.co.uk...

  3. not much these days. my mother has two brother machine hanging around these days and she was offered £50 for each.

  4. Around here, it's likely in the $10-50 range.  But if you don't want to keep the machine, please don't just dump it.  There are a lot of people with fresh interest in sewing, but not a lot of cash, and the 329K was a pretty solid straight stitch machine. Yours would likely clean up to good operational condition in a few hours.

If you'd like to clean it up for yourself, you might join the yahoo group "wefixit" -- lots of expertise there.

  5. There was one went on ebay recently for about $30, under £20 in the UK, not much really considering it's age, but cheap apparently because they were built to last, and there's still thousands of them in great working order around the world.
