How many cows would a family of five go through in a year, if we eat beef 3 times a week?

  1. I am a former chef, and am from Canada and depending on were you are, you can order it and for a family of 4 a side 2 times a year should be plenty.

    They will cut it into roasts, steaks, and stew meat, and grind some into hamburger, and depending on the grade or if you splurge and get Angus beef, it will cost you less that way than say buying a 1/2 side or a quarter hind or fore.

    I would check around with the butchers in you area and there are company's to were you can order it and get other things and pay on a plan, alot depends on the company, but for a selection and the most value for your money the side is the best idea and way to go.

    A side (300-350 lbs) may run you with packaging and cutting, around $450-500.00.
