  1. Three times the rent?  Really?  We've never made that much!

    Ok, consider what you'll have to pay.

    Add up rent, utilities (you can ask the utility company for utility history), anything you'll have to pay.  (Water, power, heat, etc.)

    Also, think transportation costs, and monthly bills.  (Including foods).

    When you add up everything, then add a little bit more, for other expenses.  (Or a LOT more, depending on how you spend.

    It can be expensive.  You may want to have a roommate to begin with.  It'll help to cut expenses.


  2. 3 x the amount of the rent.  I am a landlord.  I do not rent to anyone 25 or under.
