  1. I think the size of the grip is the biggest issue. If the grips are too large or too small, you won't have as good of a grip on it and the club could slip somewhat. If that's not the case, it's probably just an adjustment period as you get used to the feel.

  2. Pretty big. Alignment has equally large influence. After that

tempo and balance work as well. Good luck...Ken

  3. They have a pretty big influence.  The size of the grip can really effect the feel of your irons, especially if you have blades or something close to that.  With any change in golf come issues.  Just play with them for awhile, and if you dont see an improvement, switch back to the same type of grips that you previously had...

  4. Any change in equipment will take some getting used to, grips especially. I would suggest you stick with a specific “style”, Like a standard Golf Pride Tour Wrap, or Lankin Crossline, maybe a cord. Switching from a Tour Wrap to a Winn or a composite grip will feel very uncomfortable, mainly due to the shape, squishyness and feel.

  5. They have a pretty big influence.  It is the only place where you actually come in contact with the club and where all the control eminates from.  You might want to go back to the style that was on them before you switched to get the old familiar feel back.

  6. HUGE!!!  When you talk about grips, they are one thing that the golfer has the most control over and can produce the best results when applied correctly. Because it is so obvious it is most overlooked. Ask a scratch golfer what type of grip is on his or her club I bet they'll tell you that they used mostly the same grip on every different kind of club they've ever owned. The size and feel of a grip also affects shot pattern because it affects your hand tension. If you lose balls left a lot then you could very well have too small a grip. If you lose them right then it is probably too large.  For sure you understand that from the first time you swung a club you have been building muscle-memory. So all there is to it is to re-train your hands to work with this grip or re-grip again.

IMPORTANT!!!     Also understand that you using the word "crisply" sets off an alarm. Changing your grip also changes the feedback your hands get from your shot. If your old grips were worn and hard you probably really felt those shots and once you changed to new ones you don't feel them as much, well that's why. Especially if the material is different (from cord to polymer or velvet etc.). For more and better information about grips go to your local pro shop and ask them to grip-fit you it's always free and completely worth the time. You can also tell them about what you want to feel when you strike the ball and they can point you in the best direction. If you don't want to go that route then go to lamkingrips.com or winngrips.com and check out their sizing charts and then all you need is a ruler to measure your wrist to middle-fingertip, get your size and wing-it.

    Good Luck

  7. Golf is a feel game and you had a certain amount of feel with the grips you had before you regripped your clubs.  That is always why I regrip with the same grips all the time.  I like Golf Pride, Nike Stock Grips, or Lamkin grips.
