How much is 8GB ?? i thought it was 1,000 songs but i dont know?

i want an ipod and i dont know how much the ipod can hold up but does say 8 GB if u can tell me thanks!

The storage capacity has a few factors to add in but an estimate to use, based on a 4MB file size but not allowing for compression rates etc. translates to about 1600 songs. With the Apple software compression you will get about 2000 songs or 24 hrs of playback- so you're correct.

my 4gb ipod holds 1000, so I'd assume an 8gb would hold 2000.

Different files have different sizes, so there is no hard and fast answer for this... however I can tell you that my iTunes folder currently holds 4521 songs which is 16.27 GB, that works out at approximately 278 songs per GB. There is no reason why this should be unusual in any way.
