  1. There are no 50g tobacco packs here anymore, since... well, I don't remember. Any Golden Virginia tobacco blend, as far as cigarette tobacco is concerned, goes for around 4.30 Euros cheapest, up to 4.80, German tobacco tax and sales tax included. Packs are 40 g. Pipe tobaccos may be a little cheaper, as they're lower in tax, but pipe smokers usually prefer better quality, which makes up for a higher price.

With "Hahn" I suppose you mean a district of Cologne, Germany. There are no variable tobacco prices in Germany, as the price is determined by the state. Noone in Hahn, Cologne is allowed to sell tobacco at a different price than someone in, let's say, Schwabing, Munich, or Kreuzberg, Berlin, or on the isle of Helgoland. And illegaly importing tobacco from another state will be heavily punished. Mind that nothing can and will happen to you when you're sending tobacco to Germany from a non-EU state; it's the EU citizen that will have to pay, or even go to jail. And I'm also not talking about a pack or two; you can send them as a gift to a friend with no problem. The problem starts at Kilos. (kilograms; i.e. approx. 2 pds.)

  2. Hello Chris,

I agree with Alwin in all points except one : "or on the isle of Helgoland. " Helgoland is taxfree and has no tabacco monopol, therefor all tabacos are very cheap in comparison with continental Germany. The most tourists come from Germany, therfore in comparison to other taxfree regions Helgland is expensive.

    Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

    Heinz
