  1. Are you asking how much of a difference? The Canon 40D's image sensor has a 1.6x crop factor, so a 28mm lens on the 40D would be equal to a 44.8mm on a full frame.

  2. The canon crop view factor is = 1.6 times.

therefore your 28 mm lens when fitted on a 40D will be 1.6x28mm

which equals to 45mm approx (44.8mm exact amount).

next time you need to convert any 35mm lens to digital slr measures, multiply it with 1.6.

    best of luck !

  3. There is NO difference if they fit EOS Canon cameras.  They use the same lenses ... Canon EF.  The only differences are when you buy a Canon EF-S lens.  But then, Canon does not make a 28 mm EF-S lens

    Canon 28 mm f/1.8 = $420

    Canon 28 mm f/2.8 = $180

The equivalent EF-S lens would be an 18 mm.  Canon does not make a prime EF-S lens in the 18 mm focal length

  4. Wow, tough crowd... look at all those thumbs downs (not by me). Are we talking about a difference in focal length or price?

    --------------------------------------...

    Canon 40D's crop factor = 1.6x

    28 x 1.6 = 44.8

    44.8 - 28 = 16.8

So the difference in focal length is 16.8mm

    --------------------------------------...

A brand new 35mm body costs about $200

A brand new 40D body costs about $1000

So the difference in price would be about $800
