Hi guys, I live in the uk and am struggling money wise but I won't got into that as I don't want this to become a sob story. I went inot boots today and spent 42 pounds on stuff that I needed after saving ages to get it all - just basics, shampoo etc (hopefully to last me a long while) and I did something very naughty and tried to pinch a 12pound eyeliner. I feel awful and have never done anything like this before but whats done is done and I can't change it. Of course they caught me - it was a dumb thing to do, and they took all my details etc and have said they will be sendin me a letter demanding civil recovery. Thats fair enough and I will pay it but I'm terrified of how much it will be! I just read in america its between 200-500 dollars. I'm totally totally skint, struggling to pay rent etc and reallt don't have a spare 100-300 pounds. I know it was my own stupid fault though, I just wondered if anyone out there could estimate how much it could be? Thanks

  1. I'm the US, civil recovery is usually 3 times the value of the item you attempted to steal.  Then, the lawyer fees (which you are also required to pay) is about $250 on up.  It really depends on the amount of time the lawyers claim they have worked on "your" case.
