What makes you thing a 1957-D (Denver Mint) cent is scarce or rare? The coin had a mintage of 1,051,342,000. there are very few, for circulation  coins minted after 1940 that have value unless in mint state , are an error coin or doubled die. You cent can be found in a dealers wheat cent box for .01 to .05 cents each. Don't give up looking though for there are valuable coins out there ,such as the 1970-S small date (high 7), the 1983 and 1995 doubled die as well as the 1984 doubled ear cents.
