  1. Depends on the grade.

    Did you ask?

If it's "Prime" it sounds reasonable.

"Choice" or "Select" it  would be to much.

Remember the higher the fat content the better the meat, the more expensive it is.

Check the grade and the breed IE Black Angus.

    Not necessarily Mellen.

It depends on many factors( especially where the beef is from, the breed and the grade and the feed.Keep in mind that they are feeding cattle less corn to keep the price down.

It also depends on who He's buying it from.

Is it a "grasser" or is it fed  a mixed bag.

He's at the mercy of the supplier.

He has to ask these questions so the people he's buying it from know he knows what he's talking about.

    Agreed?

Many grocery store and gourmet markets sell very high quality meats( I know we do).

  2. The Price of Beef has went up again due to corn prices .

3.25 per pound is the rate I recieved when I called my butcher also.

I have raised beef and butchered them with my  EX husband

so the quality of beef will be much better then you would be getting at the grocery store. So no this does not sound High.

The one good thing is you can get the meat cut the way you like. like a 5lb roast and say for example 4 steaks in a pack and the thickness as well.
