  1. It all depends on what kind of fish your planning on getting since they're all different prices. For a first pet you should probably go with a betta. Given all the ones they have at Wal-Mart a betta would be the easiest to care for. It CAN survive in a bowl but I'm sure it would appreciate at least a 10 gallon tank. The 10 gallon tanks are 10$ at Wal-Mart. You'd also need a heater, a filter, some filter cartridges, some decorations, the water treatments, and the food. I don't know how much that would cost.

  2. It depends on what kind of fish you want.  You could get a betta in a small aquarium, at least 2.5 gallons with a little sponge filter, gravel, betta food, heater, air pump, liquid test kit, water conditioner and decorations for about $75 I think.  Or you could get something bigger.

1 Goldfish and a 30-75 gallon aquarium, depending on the type, 300-750gph rated filter, gravel, decorations, aeration system, food, water conditioner, liquid test kit, stand, maybe some live plants with fertilizer and a fluorescent light for... $1000?

  3. okaaay well,

if you get a fish from wall mart

    it will DIE.

because like... the tanks are so unkept there

its discusting, they dont take care of their animals at all

i mean do you really think a cheap @ss store like wal mart would have really healthy fish?

i would suggest getting a fish at an actual pet store.

and if you still wanna get a fish from wal-mart, it all depends on what type of fish and what size tank.   soooo no one can really help you without all that

but go to wal mart and figure out what type of fish you want and find out the prices

  4. they are to expensive because they are all sick. do not buy from wally world. this is the last place I would ever buy fish from. I wish there was a way to stop them from selling fish because that is what I would do

  5. Ok, betta is a good choice, not goldfish. Goldfish need 10 gallons each! Well, all the prices I am about to list are from petsmart since I do not buy fish from walmart b/c all of them are either dead or dieing. Well, a 2.5 gallon tank for 12$, disposable filter and an air pump for about 10-15$ They are sold separately. A filter is best for a beginner to keep the water clean. If your house goes below 75F then you need a heater. The only place I have found the hydro mini aquarium 7.5 watt heater is at the petco website. It is about 10$, then gravel and decorations, 10$ just for gravel and a silk plant. (Silk is better because it will not harm the bettas delicate fins like plastic plants can.) If you want to get a little statue and a few plants it will be about 20$, but it will look really cool! I imagine at wal mart in the fish section they have little 2.5 gallon or 5 gallon mini bow aquariums, those are GREAT! 50$ and a pimped out betta home! Good luck, and do not get one of those betta kits, they are WAY TO SMALL! The minimum for a betta is 1 gallon. 6. Wal-Mart fish are extremely unhealthy, mostly because the ''friendly'' staff isn't so ''friendly'' to their under water friends.

I would suggest going to PetSmart or Pet Co. You can get a Betta for around 2-4 bucks, a glass bowl for 5 bucks, some gravel/rock for 7 bucks, and some food for 3 bucks. You can also look into a fabriced plant.

    Just bring along 30 bucks.

Bettas are hearty fish, so as long as you take good care of your friend, he will live a long life. Just remember he's happier alone.

  7. Wal-Mart fish are not the healthiest of fish to buy, I would suggest going to a local Ma & Pa fish shack and get your fish there, many pet-store aquariums share the same filtration system, if one tank is sick, then all can potentially become sick. My view of using a glass bowl for fish is negative, bowls lack the space needed for fish, including Bettas. Small fish that reach to 1-4 inches should be put into 10-20 gallon tanks, be sure to watch the stocking, do not overstock, Medium size fish should be in a 20-40 gallon tank, again don't overstock, and large fish should be in 55-100+ gallons. How much money you will need will depend on what type of fish you want and the tank kit for that fish. Lets say you want 1 Goldfish, a 20 gallon tank would be needed...you would need between 5-10 dollars for the fish...80-100 for the tank kit, be prepared to spend money, people think that fish are a cheap pet, they are not, they need the care and expense just as a puppy or kitten would need.
