How much is a keg?

okay im 13 i dont want the beer i just want the keg lol and how do kegs work? can i fill it up my self (no alchahal save that till my collage days) can u buy them empty? or will i have to buy a full one and have a party for all the hobos that live behind the liquor store? and what about the tap and other stuff ill need? so how much will a complete set up with or without the beer cost?

You can buy kegs empty, generally from homebrew supply stores.  A brand new 5 gallon (corny keg) will run you about $100 (for the keg) but you can probably find them for less used and/or locally via craigslist.  A 'standard' 15.5 gallon keg would probably comparitively more expensive.  Aside from the keg you'll need some sort of pumping/dispensing device whether it be a tap or a gas system.

    No worries about the booze, kegs can be used for all kinds of stuff.

    I'd say that you're looking at about free-$300 depending on what you have available to you locally and how much you want to invest in your system.
