how much is a average meal including tip etc in new york/times square just so i know how much spending money to take

It depends on what area you plan on eating at. Around time square or any tourists area is mostly going to cost $20/person.

generally everything is pretty expensive. A simple dinner for 2 at the TGI Friday's  for just dinner and iced tea will be about $50. Breakfast for 2 at a diner can be $30ish.

Some deals I've found are the Havana Central on 47th(I think). Its really good food for for just a little more than what you'd pay at the Friday's.

Any corner pizza joint is great for a slice of pie and a can of soda....$10.

if your by yourself like 20 per  person then like a $28 meal. Than drink $5. Than tip $10.So i'd take about $200

It depends what type of food you go for. You can expect to pay about $7-10 for lunch and slightly higher for dinner. If you're going to a museum, expect to pay $25 or more for lunch, they're very over priced. Just try to eat somewhere less expensive, it's possible. (think Mc Donald's!)

There is no such thing as a normal meal in NYC.  Times Square is not the best place to eat, it''s not that full of great restaurants,which may sound funny.   You can go anywhere from$35 to $200, depending on what you want. Are you going to Times Square for a reason?  If it's for a meal I would definitely go to another part of town. If it's for a theater, you need a place that has a fixed dinner that caters to the theater crowd.

If you want to spend money,it''s a little off of Times Square on 54th Street I would recommend Maze in the London Hotel. We are talking Expensive here. It's a tasting menu,so you would have 3 to 4 dishes and maybe a dessert if you like desserts.  Each plate is about $15 to $20 depending on how fancy what you order is.  It is one of the few restaurants in NY that has a Michalin Star, and it's a long meal. You make a night of it, so don't plan any thing else.

There is also B. Smith right in the theater district.  You have to tell them you have theater tickets or you will never get out in time.

Another wonderful place is Jezebel''s.  Southern cooking.

Also great,Pierre au Tunnel - French.

I spent $450 on meal plus tip at Il Nito near 53rd and 3rd. That was for 4 people.

in Times Square, I would expect to pay anywhere from $8 - $300 for two people depending on whether you got dirty water hot dogs or went to the restaurant at the top of that hotel.
