  1. there are 32-34 cans in a pound, that is just the 12 oz. size. Anything bigger will make it fewer. The CRV law requires a "real" recycling company to refund you 5 cents per can, so that ends up being $1.60-1.70 a pound. If they pay you for the aluminum as well, it will go up. In my So Cal area, its $1.70-$1.90, a guy in the Santa Cruz area collecting cans on the beach said he got $2.35 in San Jose. If you have alot, it might be worth driving a little to get more. But you have to figure in the gas..
