How much is a rail road insolator worth?

I found a glass rail road insolator and was wondering how much it was worth? the CD# is 127

  1. probably no more than about $10 or so.


  2. If it is clear (white) in color, not much.

    If it is green in color, and in good shape, it may fetch a couple of dollars if someone sees it at a yard sale or such.

    But, if purple, a collector will undoubtedly be interested in it.  These are the oldest of the glass insulators and very hard to find.  I can't guess how much it would be worth, but certainly more than a buck or two.  When I say purple, I don't mean one of todays purplish ceramic insulators.  The purple glass is different and much older, getting its purple color from decades and decades and decades in the sun, having started out as clear.
