Empfingen is in the Stuttgart area, prices there are pretty steep. Including heating and with decent sized rooms, you are looking at 800 EUR per month. Quotations with 400 EUR will most likely be way out in the country or will not include heating.

Due to certain anomalities in the estate market in Baden-Württemberg, there is a certain lack of 2- and 3-bedroom appartments available for rent. The state subsidises only the cconstruction of family homes for personal use, not of rental appartments. The result is that the difference of cost between renting a full house and a 3- or 4-bedroom appartment is almost minimal.

If you are looking for a place to live in Empfingen, it is best to figure out yourself when you get there. It is a very small village, only about 4000 inhabitants. In places like this, word of mouth is the best way to find an appartment.

Couldn't find anything in Empfingen, i looked in Reutlingen (20 - 30 km distance) instead.

Prices range from 400 to 800 € for a three room-apartment.

Well, this depends WHAT kind of hotel you're looking for.  You can get cheap accomodations in Germany for € 50 a night, but also for up to € 600 a night or more...

Go to http://www.empfingen.de - or write an email to the City Hall directly at: [e-mail]  -  they surely might understand English! ;-)

I only found the Hotel Ammann in Empfingen, their website is http://www.hotel-ammann.de (in German & English language), but you also can send an email to them and ask for their prices & rates.
