  1. you can get deals on virgin where it gets included in the ticket price

    about 50

  2. http://www.transportdirect.info

  3. read answer three question back nationalrail cheap fares

  4. From Gatwick there are 3 different companies operating with 3 different fare structures each with approx 5 different tickets.

Cheapest is Southern, runs to either London Victoria or London Bridge (connections to Waterloo, Charing Cross, Blackfriars and Cannon Street), Std Single (one way anytime of day), Std Day Return (returning same day anytime), Cheap Day Return (travelling after 9.30am returning before 2.00am) Peak Travelcard (unlimited use on tube, bus and tram in London anytime), Off Peak Travelcard (use after 09.30am and unlimited use of tube, bus and tram after 10.00 in London), Saver Return (valid after 10.00am same day out, return in 1 month with same restriction) and a Pricebuster Return to London Victoria only (valid after 10.00am).

Next Up, First Capital Connect. Runs to London Bridge, Blackfriars, St Pauls, Farringdon and St Pancaras, tickets not valid on other services if FCC specified on ticket, but their tickets are the Standard Single, Standard Return, Cheap Day Return, Peak Travelcard, Off Peak Travelcard (as above with restrictions).

Finally you have the Gatwick Express. Only Runs to London Victoria (no stops inbetween) and has Standard Gatwick Express Single, Return, Saver Gatwick Express Return, Gatwick Express Travelcard. Those tickets are ONLY valid on Gatwick Express and no transferable to any other service.

Prices vary from £8 for the Southern Pricebuster up to £35 for the Gatwick Express Peak Return.

As for service there is a train from Gatwick every 10 minutes going towards London, you just have to be careful to get the right train for your ticket.  If your even more confused, dont worry just ask at the ticket desk in South Terminal Station to ensure you have the correct ticket and which of the three companies the ticket is valid on.

    Good Luck

  5. Try national rail enquiries

  6. It's £15 to get to Victoria and then another couple of quid to get into London. All in all it wont cost more than £20.

  7. About £10 for a single but depends on time of day etc. Try this website for more details

  8. The short answer is: It depends.

There are three different companies that operate between Gatwick Airport and London: Gatwick Express and Southern operate into Victoria station and First Capital Connect run to London Bridge and then through the centre of London to Blackfriars, City Thameslink (St Paul's), Farringdon, St Pancras International and beyond towards Bedford.

First Capital Connect is the cheapest of the three, though the cross-London journey is at a rather sedate pace. Trains run every 15 minutes, with an average journey time to London Bridge of 29 minutes, to Blackfriars 36 minutes, to City Thameslink 39 minutes, to Farringdon 43 minutes, and to St Pancras 47 minutes.

Gatwick Express, being formerly part of the InterCity sector, is the most expensive, but has the advantage (at present) of dedicated platforms at both Gatwick and Victoria, so there's almost always a train waiting for you. Trains run every 15 minutes with a journey time of 30 minutes.

Southern is between the other two, and offers journey times that are only a couple of minutes more than those offered by Gatwick Express. Trains run every 15 minutes, a couple of minutes behind the Gatwick Express ones, with journey times of between 32 and 40 minutes, depending on stopping pattern.

    Sample fares:

FCC only Standard Class Open Return  (valid for return within one calendar month): £17.00

Southern only Standard Class Open Return: £21.80

Southern only First Class Open Return: £25.00

FCC only First Class Open Return: £27.00

Gatwick Express Standard Class Open Return: £30.80

Gatwick Express First Class Open Return: £48.00

NB: Most airlines tend to offer (slightly) discounted Gatwick Express tickets on board,

  9. Gatwick express to Victoria ia about 18 pounds, then a zone 1 underground ticket is £4, or you can get a day pass for just over £5.
