  1. 6 to 9 thousend

  2. One place you can use to do price checking on car repairs is on Driverside.com – you can drill down to specific cars cause I think the price will change based on the car. They are still in beta but they have a ton of data on what car parts and repairs should cost. I used them for my last repair and it helped out.

  3. Modern vehicles do not get "tune-ups", it is an outdated term from the early days of automobiles when maintenance such as valve adjustments, spark plug replacement, ignition points and condensers, ignition timing and dwell adjustments, carburetor idle speed and fuel mixture adjustments were done every 12,000 miles or less. These items were mechanical and worn out rapidly. Most of today's vehicles do all this automatically and do not need periodic adjustments and almost everything that used to wear down has been replaced by electronic components that do not wear.

The answer depends on what is wrong with the vehicle to raise your concern for needing a "tune-up".

If the performance is less than it has been or if actual drivability problems are present then a diagnosis needs to be done to find out what is causing the symptoms. This will save you money in the long run. If the plugs need to be replaced or any other ignition or fuel components your professional repair shop can find that out for you and advise you of the correct solution.  Be aware of a shop that wants to sell you a "tune-up" first , before they do computer analysis and drivability diagnosis.
