  1. I think they are about 75 dollars

    Free--maybe only classifies

  2. There is really no average.  The cost can vary from free (with absolutly nothing done to the dogs) to $75-150 or more and everything in between with any combination of spay/neuter, fully vacinated, just rabies vaccine, microchip, temperment testing, some training etc.

There may be "free" shelters in the Norther VA area but I don't know, however keep in mind that even if you get a dog from a "free" shelter you are then going to have to spend the money to have the dog spayed/neutered, vaccinated etc.  The cost of the adoption fee is generally much cheaper that the cost of having the services done yourself.

Also keep in mind if you can't afford the nomoinal adopting fee for the dog then you can't really afford to care for it propperly especially if a medical emergancy arrises

  3. It depends on the area you live in. They can vary; in my area dogs cost $40.00 and cats cost $20.00. However, at the ASPCA near us, cats are $25.00 and dogs are $60.00. So, it can vary. Contact your local shelter and find out how much they cost. Shelter animals are not usually free, as the shelters are non-profit and rely on donations and adoption fees to continue running and to care for the other shelter animals.

  4. In most shelters the Adoption fee for a dog is about 100-150 dollars. For a puppy maybe 50 dollars it  depends on age and size.

  5. here in canada in my area just outside of ottawa the local shelter charges around $245. this includes all shots and spaying but i find most people who want to save a dog can't afford these prices. sometimes there are cheaper prices for older dogs and a lot of people will check out adds for pups instead. i can see paying for a dog at the shelter and i have in the past but when an abandoned dog who has been fixed already should be sold to a family much cheaper.all shelters need money to buy food and upkeep and u go through quite a routine by having yourself checked out before u can get one. accross the border in NY the pets are much cheaper and runs around $75.go on line  and check out the local shelters and most of them have prices and pictures of their animals. good luck.

  6. No shelter is free. They have to pay for shots, neuter/spay, and any other medical conserns the dog or cat has. Usually cashing out at a value to $150 through $200.

    Dr. Dog

  7. Where I live it is $95 for a dog and $70 for a cat.

  8. Usually shelters are about $50-200 Dollars. Less for Cats most of the time.
