Corn is going through the roof, more then ever before, Check the Commodities page in the business section or wall street journal I last heard $550.00 but it has gone up since, Ethenol is one reason, higher fuel price is another, I'm sure in Iowa the sun cannot hit the ground because of the price of corn. If you grow it in your back yard next year and sell it on the road, you will make some good money, tax free because it is produce.

Depends on the corn.  As feed, I'd expect to get about 170 bu/acre with good corn ground, so let's guess this year's price at about $6/bu -- so about $1000/acre -- last year it would have been about $3.40/bu or about $580/acre.  (Then, of course, you have to subtract the price of seed, fuel, chemicals, time, taxes, machinery and land... leaving you with a very small profit.)

    If, however, you're growing specialty corn, such as foundation corn for plant breeding, you might make twice that per acre.
