it changes around from time to time....like right now $1usd=16,510vnd but then a couple weeks later the vnd would be a couple hundred more or even thousand

i heard by the end of the year $1usd will equal 22,000vnd

I think Sumo is a little optimistic and frankly I hope he's wrong or a lot of businesses here are gonna suffer big time.

The dollar vs dong fluctuation was caused by many factors, but the Central Bank and the government have taken steps to correct the problem.

At one point the black market rate for $1 was 20,100 vnd. This only lasted a day. It has since dropped back to more normal levels of around 16,400 or so.

We expect the dollar and dong rates to stabilize within a few months...so if you want to make money on the exchange difference, so it now.

But ya gotta be HERE to do it...VND is non-convertible currency outside Vietnam.
