You will have to do the math in NY electricity is sold by kilo watts basically when the utility explains it all to you it sounds like it is not a lot but when you get your bill you want to SCREAM.  I suggest you contact the electric co you will buy from and have someone visit so that you can get cost-saving and energy conserving equipment, like auto-turn off lights, the right kinds of windows.  The site below explain the formula


  2. I payed $30K for 3 tons up stars and 3 tons downstairs in virginia.  System has all the bells and whistles.

  3. My brother just had a 3 ton installed in in an older home in Mobile Al, and it was $28 hundred- not thousand. In a new construction is should be much less. There would be a lot less labor, and much more easy to do.

    I would think that for two units installed $10,000 would be extremely excessive.

    Of course New York and the West Coast are the most expensive parts of this country.

    Another thing- many contractors size you up when they give a price. We need to keep that in mind.

    Its like buying a car-- some people go to the dealer and give them what ever they ask....thats why cars cost so much.
