How much is enough for a Gas Guzzler?

Alright, so I'm writing a article on how the (American) economy has really taken a nosedive due to the oil crisis and other factors. And in doing so, I'd like to raise the general fact of how much a new, oversized gas guzzler can sell for.

Does anyone have any personal or professional experience in cars that could give me a correct answer? I'd really appreciate it.

Well, let's see.

I drive a small sports car, that gets about 12 miles to the gallon.

I researched the average trends of gas prices over the last hundred years.

Calculating for accurate amounts of inflation and time, it was overwhelmingly apparent that gas prices today.....are pretty much normal, and not worth worrying about.

Based on this, I continue to drive my car, and laugh at all the people who are running around, as if this is some new thing.
